30 Day Continuous Wear Lenses

Contact lenses can be used for good vision or high fashion -- or both -- but for your health and safety, they must be properly fitted by a licensed eyecare professional and can be purchased only with a written prescription.

Dr. Binford will examine your eyes to determine if you are a good candidate for contacts and will discuss with you what your options are for the best results. With the wide variety of contacts available today, almost everybody can enjoy them, but there are still a few people who cannot wear them for one reason or another.

Soft or rigid gas permeable? Soft contacts are easier to get used to and are very comfortable for most people. Rigid gas permeable contacts take a little longer to get used to, but they are more durable. Even though the gas permeable lenses cost more to begin with, they tend to be less expensive in the long run, since they don't have to be replaced as often. The rigid lenses also provide clearer vision for some people.

Typical Schedule for Soft Lens Replacement
Daily Disposable One Day *
Extended Wear One Week * (you can sleep in these)
Daily Wear Two Weeks *
Frequent Replacement One Mo.+ * (depends on brand)
Conventional One Year *
* These times will vary, depending on the person's eyes and the care given to the contacts.

Do you have astigmatism? Toric lenses are designed to correct astigmatism, and there are several different types. Dr. Binford can help you find the right lens for your particular degree of astigmatism and comfort level.

Giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC) is a reaction caused by proteins secreted by your eyes. If you are wearing soft contacts, this may cause you problems because your contacts get coated with the protein deposits, making the lenses uncomfortable to wear. Sometimes the soft daily disposable lenses will work better, since they are thrown away every day and there is no time for the protein deposits to accumulate. There are several options available for patients with GPC --- Dr. Binford will help you find the most comfortable contact lens.

Cosmetic Contact Lenses
Enhancing and brightening the natural the natural color of your eyes --- or changing the color entirely (in appearance) can be fun, and it's possible with the new colored contact lenses available from several manufacturers. You can wear these lenses even if your vision is perfect and you don't need glasses or contacts.

Lenses for Costume, Theater, or Special Effects
These contact lenses are usually worn for special occasions (like Halloween) or for theatrical use. There are several brands and styles available, but the most popular brands seem to be Wild Eyes by CIBA Vision and Crazy Lenses, which are made by CooperVision. Shown below are just a few of the wide variety of lenses of this type.
